The first of the series on ps2,the trinity site,3 person point of view, was unique to say the least but not everybody cared for it at all.
The graphics were bumped up from 2d to 3d,somethings were revamped a bit and the learning skills part was added to the series, both nice touches.
The chapter format was also new to north america,i enjoyed the changes, longer chapters and free roaming world map being missing were my only concerns on this one,the point to point map wasn't good for me i love roaming all over, not being rescricted in a straight line between places.
Sure not seeing Flik, and Viktor was tough but i got through it ok.
I still enjoyed the playing experience it offered me.

I still remember when I start playing it, I was puzzled by the trinity area. I was thinking, do I have to play all of them or just choose one? I choose Hugo from the start. was surprise that it is to tell everyone points of view at the time, and wat happen.

I didn't really enjoy this Suikoden much...Sure it was 3-d and the system was quite unique, but it didn't seem to live up to my expectations...I quickly got bored of it, and I only really bother beating it to now the story...

Well it did have to follow the greatest game of the series Suikoden II,so maybe the pressure got to konami trying to do better but instead, took a step backwards.

I see...I never use auto...Anyway, the battle system did get on my nerves since you couldn't move all the participants in battle individually...The mounting thing was okay though...

First of all, that's a banner...Avatars are the small pics under the username...Second, yes, I could make one for you as well, Lucretia...
Anyway, my stregy was always varying depending on the situation...usualy I just gang up in one group and then on another...

The battle style was a bit good to an extent...I just hated the fact that I couldn't use all my members to blast an opponent with runes...I prefer commanding all the participants in battle...

I have to agree with you guys, although the battle system was great, it had a lot of limitations, and those limitations hindered my interest in the battle system. I really liked it but it just had so many limitations that I couldn't bring myself to like it as I did with SII's battle system

Looks like we did the same thing. After my first playthrough, I just used the auto for the war battles.

I love the random battles better than the war battles, especially beating down them boss monsters and emptying the treasure chest they're guarding.

I was actually a bit agitated by the mini-boss battles as i lost my first one and had to repeat from my last save point but in the end I liked the mini-boss battles as it gave me a lot of good bonuses, both in experience and in loot.
